Visiting Victoria Falls is a “once in a lifetime” experience — or so we thought!
Two years ago we were able to see the falls from the Zimbabwe side, which was an incredible experience! This year we were able to see the falls from the Zambian side which was simply a cherry on top. What a gift to see, feel, even taste God’s beautiful creation!
Up stream just a bit where it is said Dr. David Livingstone first landed on one of the islands (not pictured) before the water takes the plunge over the edge! Glad he stopped when he did — it’s pretty close!
We got soaked! If you look past the people walking in this photo, you can just make out the Rainbow Bridge where you pass over the gorge with the heavy “mist” of the falls hitting you — think strong rainstorm!
This was all they have of safety rails between you and the steep drop-off as you view the falls. Missionaries from 30+ years ago remember when there wasn’t even that! I’m glad they’re there!
One of his happy places — rock climbing at the bottom of the gorge, looking over the Boiling Pot. This is where the water comes after falling over the cliff and swirls around as it finds its way down the river. If you’re really adventurous (as one of our coworkers from Zambia was!), you can go bungee jumping off this bridge!
One more glimpse of a small part of the beauty and power of Victoria Falls.
